WESTSIDE WHISTLE V. 3 I. 6

Are you going to be ready when the Lord calls?

“The work of John the Baptist opened the door for the rest of us to become God’s missionaries and to spread the Gospel of Jesus to the lost while we are here on this Earth today and for those that follow after us well.”

BIBLE BYTE:

MARK 1: 1 - 8: (Preaching of John the Baptist) NASB

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God.
2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU!
WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;
3 THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS,
MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD,
MAKE
HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.”
4 John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
5 And all the country of Judea was going out to him and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.
6 John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey.
7 And he was preaching, and saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals.
8 “I baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

EASTER IS AROUND THE CORNER, TIME FOR THE AAEO

You know Easter is getting close when we start our annual collection for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering (AAEO) to help the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) North American Missions Board (NAMB). The 2010 goal is to raise $70 million to help support the SBC missionaries throughout the United States and Canada. The NAMB helps to support over 5,000 North American based missionaries that are out there spreading the word of God to the lost thanks to your generosity and kindness. When making a donation, you can make you checks out to Westside Baptist and in the memo like note for AAEO or NAMB and we will pass your donation through to the SBC for you. We also do have AAEO envelopes on the welcome table you may use and I will try to have some at Rickie’s place this coming Sunday as well. Thank you for your generosity once more in helping others spread the word of God.

You can learn more about Annie Armstrong by visiting www.anniearmstrong.com.

STUDY OF JOSEPH & THE MANY COLORS OF HIS LIFE:

Join us at Westside Baptist Church Sunday morning as we look at the story and life of Joseph found within the book of Genesis; chapters 37 – 50.  We will see how Joseph’s life can be transferred and interact in our own personal lives today.    Please feel welcome to join us Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM as Brother J. T. leads us through this study of Joseph’s life.  Each Sunday’s sermon is a standalone sermon, but over all they are tied together to tell an amazing and all encompassing life for Joseph that God is truly a full part of throughout it all.  You will learn something new from man’s past as God build our future.  If you miss a sermon in this series, do not worry, you can listen to them via our website at www.wsidebaptist.com.  You will find the sermons listed under the SERMONS tap at the top of the webpage for your convenience.

GREATER THINGS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE WITH LITTLE STEPS:

Wednesday evenings, Westside Baptist is doing “GREATER THINGS” in our community.  What are you doing Wednesday evenings? We are meeting at the Clarity Solutions Center located at 116 E. Memorial Drive in E-Town starting at 6:30 pm.  We always have a time of prayer and then community service work to follow.  The little projects and tasks we are performing to help the Clarity Center are making a difference for those that come there seeking assistance.  We may not be able to move mountains, but every job we do to improve things for others is a blessing for both the recipient and the worker at the same time.  We all have many talents and skills, so why not join us Wednesday evening and user your gifts God blessed you with for the betterment of our community.   We hope to see you there.

HOME BIBLE FELLOWSHIP:

This Sunday, we will be showing another video followed by question and an answer period to follow. We will also be discussing the "The Holiness of God" study by R. C. We hope to be ready to start this study on Sunday, March 21st. We encourage all our members and of course your friends and guest to feel free to join us during any of the Home BIBLE Fellowship study nights. There is always a time of fellowship, a time of prayer, a time of study, and time to praise God. We hope to see you there.

IN CLOSING

As we know, missionaries are following a special calling from Christ to basically give up most of their worldly conveniences and relocate to places where often the word of God has never been heard. Then again, God told us that we need to be out there and sharing the Gospel to all the nations. This is not just our next door neighbor, but to the people throughout our local communities, our state, our nation, and the whole world. We can all make an impact in sharing the Gospel even if we are not the person who is physically going out and doing this task. Your prayers of success, support, and protection for the missionaries are of great importance to the missionaries, the people the visit with, and God Himself. Your prayers are a truly powerful tool in the arsenals of our missionaries. Your financial support is important as well as it give them the ability to be able to do their God guided work and provide them with the supplies and materials to help in successfully sharing the story of Jesus Christ to the lost. Even the smallest of gifts when given to help and honor the kingdom of God will be blessed and multiplied countless times as each soul saved is a priceless gift to God thanks through your generosity here on this Earth. You may not know or see how you support has helped here on Earth, but you will be amazed when in heaven you finally get to glimpse the important part that your little gift make when it is shown to you by God the countless lives that you have and will impact through supporting our missionaries today for an all inspiring future at the feet of God. So please keep praying for our missionaries and humbly supporting them as best as you can. Who knows, if you open your heart to God about missions and missionaries, you might even realize that God is calling you to become one yourself.

Serving Our Savior,

Robert Blair,

Westside Baptist Church Elder
